I drove through downtown Louisville (KY) through the poorer neighborhoods whooping and celebrating that night. Everyone was out in the streets waving signs, smiling, and acting more like it was the 4th of July rather than November.
You know it's something special when you see this, people laughing and crying - even TV reporters, who are usually characterized by their stony recitation of events, had trouble keeping their eyes dry.
I'm proud to have lived to see the day.
Now we're back on the ground, and it's not a letdown, just anxiety to get the ball rolling.
one thing's for sure... I have less of an excuse to be a diehard cynic.
